Job Summary
The eBeam technology represents a major breakthrough in packaging sterilisation, enabling high-speed production, reduced operational costs, and significant reductions in the use of chemicals, water, and energy. We are looking for talented people across multiple areas—Development, Engineering, Production, and Supplier Management—to help drive the evolution of our eBeam system for today’s and tomorrow’s filling equipment.
We are hiring a Maintenance Engineer who will ensure high availability, reliability, and safety of production equipment by leading preventive, corrective, and improvement‑focused maintenance activities. The role bridges engineering expertise and hands‑on technical support, ensuring automated production equipment performs consistently in line with quality, safety, and capacity requirements.
Scope of the Role
- Engineering responsibility for maintenance of automated production equipment and systems
- Ownership of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies
- Technical escalation point for complex equipment and automation issues
- Close collaboration with Production, Engineering, Quality, and external suppliers
This is a permanent position based in Modena, Italy. For knowledge transfer from Flamatt site, travel to Switzerland is required at the beginning of the assignment.
What you will do
Maintenance & Equipment Reliability
- Ensure high availability and reliability of production equipment
- Plan, define, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance concepts
- Lead or support complex troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and automation‑related failures
- Analyze breakdowns and recurring issues, driving root‑cause analysis and corrective actions
Automation & Technical Support
- Provide technical expertise for automated equipment, robotics, and PLC‑controlled systems
- Support diagnostics and parameter adjustments in cooperation with Automation / Production Engineers
- Support software‑related troubleshooting within defined responsibilities
- Ensure proper backup, documentation, and version control of equipment settings (where applicable)
Continuous Improvement & Engineering Support
- Drive equipment improvement initiatives to enhance performance, stability, and maintainability
- Support or lead retrofits, upgrades, and modernization projects
- Collaborate with Production Engineering on new equipment commissioning and ramp‑up
- Provide maintenance input to CAPEX projects and equipment specifications
- Define and perform FAT, SAT, commissioning, and ramp‑up activities
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain and improve maintenance documentation, spare parts lists, and technical records in ERP System
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, CE requirements, and internal standards
- Support risk assessments, safety inspections, and audits related to production equipment
- Ensure proper management of spare parts and critical components
Knowledge & People Support
- Act as technical mentor for maintenance technicians and operators
- Support training on equipment, troubleshooting, and safe maintenance practices
- Cooperate with external service providers, OEMs, and machine builders
We believe you have
Educational and Professional Experience
- University degree (BSc/MSc) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a comparable technical field or higher technical education or completed vocational training with extensive relevant professional experience
- Several years of experience in maintenance engineering or technical support within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Experience with automated production equipment and special machinery required
- Experience in high‑precision, regulated, or safety‑critical production environments is an advantage
- Strong understanding of industrial production equipment and automation systems
- Solid knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and automation technologies
- Experience with PLC‑controlled machines, robotics, and sensors/actuators
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation
- Structured approach to fault analysis and maintenance planning
- Good English skills (spoken and written) required
