Job Summary
Automation Engineer
We are seeking both intermediate and senior level Automation Engineers to join our Macro Automation team in Auckland. This role will involve leading a wide range of industrial automation projects across manufacturing sectors, delivering innovative, customer-centric solutions.
The position is based in Auckland, NZ.
You will be travelling up to 25% of your time to our customer sites.
What you will do
As an Automation Engineer, you will:
- Develop and deliver automation solutions, taking ownership of key project deliverables and outcomes
- Lead system design, development, and technical problem-solving activities
- Review and improve technical solutions
- Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
- Coordinate automation project delivery, ensuring timelines and objectives are met
- Drive success through the project lifecycle (design, development, testing, and commissioning)
- Travel occasionally to support project delivery
- Embed yourself into a high-performing, supportive team at Tetra Pak
We believe you have
We are looking for someone with:
- Proven success delivering automation or control system projects
- Experience working with multiple automation platforms, such as Rockwell, Schneider, Siemens, and Aveva.
- Familiarity with functionality development, factory acceptance testing (FAT) and commissioning activities
- Strong leadership skills and a willingness to support and grow junior team members
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, ownership-driven approach
- The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A relevant, university level engineering qualification
- New Zealand or Australian residency with full working rights
The following experience would be advantageous but not essential:
- An understanding of industrial network setup and design
- Food and beverage industry process knowledge
- Experience with databases and an understanding of database concepts
- Experience with older legacy control system
