Senior Buyer


The Senior Buyer is responsible for all purchasing activities for the Production Center involving production materials, components and equipment needed for delivery of projectsand company operations. This involves activities from purchasing from released purchase requisitions to entering and verifying purchase order acknowledgements, including control of deliveries within projects. 


This role involves close collaboration with the engineering, production, project managers and the materials group, as well as accounts payable. The Senior Buyer must continually demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills under tight time pressures while facilitating positive long-term supplier relationships and a positive team environment. 
This position will report to the Logistcs manager.
The position is based in Winsted MN.
Tetra Pak is not sponsoring work visas or relocation for this position.

What you will do


As a Senior Buyer you will:

Purchasing materials and equipment:


  • Process purchase orders and monitor timely based on project requirements 
  • Sending drawings and specifications to suppliers and collaborating with engineering on questions that may arise
  • Obtaining quotations and performing bid analysis
  • Processing order acknowledgements
  • Assisting Account Payable with Purchase Order/Invoice questions.

Other areas of responsibility:


  • Provide estimators, engineers with supplier quotes and lead-times as required
  • Participate in Project Review Meetings
  • Supplier claims processing
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned 

Who you are


We believe you have:


  • 5 years Procurement experience and negotiation skills 
  • SAP R3 skills and experience preferred
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel and manufacturing ERP systems
  • Understanding drawings, specifications and Bill of Materials 
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong proficiency with data analysis and prior experience with fabricators and mechanical components 
  • Ability to effectively prioritize workload
