Senior Process Engineer

 

The position is located at 600 Bunker Court, Vernon Hills, IL 60061.
Telecommuting permitted two days per week.
Domestic and international travel 1 week per month.
Tetra Pak is not sponsoring work visas or relocation for this position. 

What you will do

 

As a Senior Process Engineer, you will: 

 

Collect project information from the respective salesperson, market companies, group entities, or client, and confirm and include them in the project design. Support the sale activities and process for both US and Canada. Meet face-to-face for discussions at customer site. Read specifications and other customer documents, and create the list of deviations together with sales, review of documents, and report of the review. Take responsibility for drafting and defining the technical solution and the contract based on standard Tetra Pak Powder Handling processes. Propose solutions in the form of a process block diagram and quote an order of magnitude, if necessary. Request prices for non-standard equipment and services based on specifications. Quote the solution with the internal pricing software after validation of the solution by the pre-project team. Budget quote then firm quote by referring to Tetra Pak rules and procedures. Carry out the various risk analyses provided for in the pre-sales process. Carry out exhibit documents relative to Powder Handling Process Engineering (P&ID's, Item List, Design requirements, technical description Process & Automation, Commissioning Criteria and Performance Targets, Project Time Schedule, and Division of responsibilities) to be included into the customer contract. Update all documents throughout the whole pre-project phase and inform the team of any changes. Present the status of the project at a governance meeting. Organize, conduct project reviews, write, and distribute reports. Participate in the launch of projects internally.

We believe you have

 

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Food or Agronomic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, and 5 years of experience in the food manufacturing industry. In the alternative, this position will accept a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Food or Agronomic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, and 3 years of experience in the food manufacturing industry.

 

Must also have experience with:

 

  1. Industrial design techniques (P&ID’s management) and tools (AutoCad or equivalent) to understand standards and specifications used in the food industry;
  2. European and US food engineering standards and management of explosion protections & explosive atmospheres frequent with powders including experience with EHEDG, ATEX, USDA - 3A, and NFPA;
  3. Process Engineering, specifically, powder handling;
  4. Project management (project plan, risks analysis, schedule, and contract management) and
  5. AutoCad, Vault, and Microsoft Office.
