Senior Automation Engineer B (multiple openings)


The position reports to Tetra Pak headquarters at 600 Bunker Ct, Vernon Hills, IL 60061, but works at various unanticipated worksites through the U.S.
Telecommuting permitted up to 4 days a week when project workload allows.
Travel up to 40% of the time domestically and to Canada to visit customer sites to support automation projects, trainings, assessments, and other business meetings. Possible international travel to visit Tetra Pak’s offices in Sweden, Brazil, and Mexico for team interaction meetings, trainings, or international projects/initiatives.
Tetra Pak is not sponsoring work visas or relocation for this position. 

What you will do

 

 

As a Senior Automation Engineer B, you will: 


Work independently in project and/or pre-project teams within cluster (L0-L3+projects). Make technical decisions and take responsibility for technical solutions. Act as Design Owner/System Platform Owner/Super User. Provide overall expertise, technology know-how, support, and consultancy for control and automation systems. Deploy industrial automation service solutions and operational support to manage solution lifecycles, handling escalated problems, and driving activities and services to secure solution performance over time (configuration, optimization, documentation). Deploy and maintain solutions for plant and line integration using the Tetra Pak Plant Master solution (processing) as well as for other operational technology and devices used in the food and beverage industry. Train customer and Market Companies staff in key technologies, when relevant. Mentor other service engineers when necessary. Build and maintain technical network on cluster and global level, across different automation/digital organizations. Interface with account managers and customers to assess the customer requirements and thereby create cost effective quotations. Responsible for compiling and reviewing all technical documentation to be included on the project documents. Perform hardware & software specifications, as well as define the system architecture (automation/information/electrical), conceptual design of control panels and MCC panels with close cooperation with electrical/automation engineers. Responsible for the use of electrical standards, for panels and site installation, in cooperation with specialized suppliers, as well as UL508A, Code of Practice, Client Electrical Standards, and any other regulatory requirements. Ensure all projects are delivered in a timely manner, in line with the project plan, budget, and cost constraints while following the Tetra Pak quality system. Perform hands on work with PLC programming, HW design, FAT testing, MES development, and Recipe Management during the project where it is required. Participate in design reviews and safety risk assessments. 

We believe you have

 

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, and five years of experience deploying automation systems in processing areas.

 

Must also have work experience in:

 

1.    Programable Logic Controllers (PLC) including Rockwell, Wonderware InTouch, Human Machine Interface (B&R Automation), and Endress Hauser and IFM Electronics, instruments and hardware used for the Food and Beverage industry;
2.    Databases, recipe handling, site reports, including data management and customized reports for the Food and Beverage industry;
3.    MES System, Virtualization, and Industrial Network integration;
4.    Designing and troubleshooting electrical (up to 600 VAC) and pneumatic systems; and
5.    Deploying and maintaining solutions for plant and line integration using operational technology and devices used in the food and beverage industry.
