Job Summary

 

Automation Engineer, Evaporation & Dryers

 

The position is located at 600 E Bunker Court, Vernon Hills, IL 60061. 
25% to 30% Domestic and international travel required for meetings with project team and/or customers and site work (startup activities).
Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.
Tetra Pak is not sponsoring work visas or relocation for this position. 

What you will do

 

As an Automation Engineer, Evaporation & Dryers, you will:

 

Apply special knowledge of Tetra Pak Falling Film Evaporator, Spray Dryer, and CIP Station to the on-site commissioning of Tetra Pak evaporation and dryer equipment for customers in the U.S. (IO check, water and products tests). Specify electrical budgets for functional engineering hours and instrumentation. Write firm quotations in relation to the functional scope. Provide advice and support to the sales department when presenting quotations regarding process control, electrical hardware, and instrumentation. Quote requests from suppliers in relation to electrical specifications, instrumentation, and functionality. Create Process Functional Design documents using Tetra Pak engineering tools. Implement functionality by developing software based on the Process Functional Specifications in either Siemens or Rockwell PLCs. Develop operator screens on commercially available platforms such as Factory Talk View, Wonderware System Platform, and WinCC using Tetra Pak Plant Master libraries. Configure Tetra Pak MES system and validate production/CIP reports. Work with Process Engineers to determine required electrical power supply, calculating instruments, and the process control scope within the evaporator and dryer projects. Provide input to personnel and equipment safety documentation in accordance with local legislation. Consult with buyers and purchase assistants to procure instruments and process control scope. Responsible for providing necessary information, specifications, and documents, and assessing the electrical, instrument, and process control in supplier quotes, evaluations, and approvals. Manage the delivery and implementation of applicable instruments. Assess progress and quality during implementation by suppliers. Monitor and forecast functional/automation engineering costs including hardware costs. Responsible for the commissioning of the functionality and software at customer sites. 

We believe you have

 

Bachelor’s degree in Control and Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field, and 5 years of experience in evaporation and drying in the food industry.

 

Must have work experience with:

 

1.    Processing of evaporators and dryers.
2.    Software development & testing for Milk & Whey Powder Plant application based on S88 concept. 
3.    PLC and Scada programming for Evaporation and Drying applications.
4.    MES configuration production and CIP Reports.
5.    Electrical design including MCC/PLC and remote panels.
6.    Software Factory Acceptance Testing, start-up of equipment at customer site that includes IO check, and water and product tests.
7.    Performance trials and handover to customers.
