Commissioning Engineer 


This position will be based  in Heerenveen, Netherlands  office.

Main Purpose of the Job

As a Commissioning Engineer within Business Stream Cheese, you are a key member of our projects implementation team, with responsibility of performing onsite commissioning of our cheese equipment (Branded Processing Units / BPU).  You will ensure that all aspects of the equipment is checked, set up and commissioned, ready for first cheese trial runs. You will ensure the equipment commissioning is performed in line with the project timeline and the equipment is ready for first cheese trial runs. After commissioining, and first cheese trials, your  focus turns to ensuring operational stability of the equipment / line. You will hand over the equipment line to the cheese technologists, who will lead performance validation activities. 

 

What you will do

  • Deliver Commissioning and equipment testing on our cheese BPUs and lines. You will be responsible for activities such as IO check, configuration of drives, set up and alignment of equipment, dry testing, wet testing and support during first product trial runs up to handover to technologist.
  • Be responsible to work according to project commisioining plan ensuring the project commissioning milestones are achieved in time and in full according to budget.
  • Generate and deliver clear, detailed and comprehensive commisisoining reports and ensure all checklists are completed per protocol.
  • Perform customer operator and technician training at site.
  • Participate / support in the Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) of our BPUs in either of our manufacturing factories. 
  • Support with improving the commissioning tools for supporting the onsite activities.
  • Provide lessons learned feedback and communication related to improvement opportunities identified durirng commissioining.
  • You will travel domestically and internationally 80% of the time.
     

We believe you have

  • An Engineering Degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Automation, Chemical etc.)
  • 1 - 4 years experience in a hands-on technical role, preferably as commissioining engineer, with experience in the Cheese / Dairy industry or food processing industry. (Experience from other industries such as pharma, airospace, pulp & paper industry will also be beneficial / considered).
  • You have multi diciplinary skill sets, or are developing those currently, in the fields of mechanical, electrical, process, automation, process control, hydrulics and pnuematics. 
  • Strong problem solving skills with a mindset of resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • You are a self starter and have the ability to work independently.
  • You are fluent both in written and spoken English.
  • Good presentation and communication skills.
  • Structured and organized with a hands-on work mentality and quick-thinking problem-solving methodology approach
