Job Summary

We are looking for a Customs coordinator who will be responsible to plan and organize full compliance activities with customs laws, regulations, norms, Free Trade Agreements, and Importer registry, AEO, Tolling requirements, etc. In this role, you will coordinate a team and you will be responsible plan, organize all the necessary activities to execute and follow up to all compliance activities guarantying the different legal compliance affairs of the foreign trade operations at Tetra Pak Mexico. 
The position is based in Shanghai, China to suport all TP business in Great China 
Tetra Pak is not sponsoring work visas or relocation for this position. 

What you will do

  • Task assignment and monitoring to strictly control compliance of the virtual operations, Tolling program obligations, etc. Assigning tasks to team members based on their skills and expertise, and monitoring progress to ensure that deadlines are met and work is completed accurately. This may involve creating schedules, setting priorities, and providing guidance as needed.

  • Performance Management: Evaluating the performance of team members on an ongoing basis, providing feedback, and recognizing achievements. This could involve conducting performance reviews, setting goals, and implementing performance improvement plans when necessary.

  • Monitor changes and translate laws & regulations into executable rules, directions and guidelines and integrate them into day-to-day operations, either for Imports, Export, Virtual or any customs transaction or program, registry, or license obligation. Identify and address knowledge gaps through training and knowledge sharing of yourself and your team.

  • Coordinate AEO/ Tolling program activities to ensure that all supply chain security standards are implemented and being performed accordingly.

  • Perform  and follow up of mandatory activities and controls to keep valid and ensure compliance of obligations established in AEO, Free Trade Agreements, APTA, CPTPP,RCEP, etc.

  • Communication: Attend, assure and coordinate supply chain security (relationship with Customs Broker, Freight forwarders and other relevant parties) to facilitate the release of the goods on time. Liaising with and attend Customs and Tax authorities' audits.

  • Facilitating communication and collaboration among team members, as well as with other departments within the organization. This could involve holding regular team meetings, fostering a collaborative work environment, and ensuring that information is shared effectively among team members.

  • Perform the origin qualification of all goods exported to countries that have signed Trade Agreements with China.

  • Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating risks related to customs compliance, such as potential delays, penalties, or audits.

  • Coordinate the team and make sure is capable and organize them to perform all the tasks on time.

  • Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Encouraging team members to identify and solve problems related to customs compliance, and supporting them in making decisions that align with company policies and regulatory requirements. This may involve providing guidance, offering solutions, and escalating issues as needed.

We believe you have

  • Bachelor’s Degree in international Trade, Foreign Trade, International Business, Business Administration or Accounting. 

  • Desirable to have the “Customs Operation Certification” or “Customs Compliance Officer” certification.

  • Minimum 10 years of proved experience leading and ensuring strict compliance,Free Trade Agreements and coordinating AEO, Tolling programs.

  • Must have an extensive and updated technical knowledge in virtual import/export operations, and attending Customs authorities’ audits.

  • Must have Power BI, PPT, Power Query knowledge and advanced Excel knowledge.

  • Required SAP expert user.

  • English fluency in written and verbal.

  • Project management and leadership skills and target driven

  • Desired competences: target driven, proactive and manage complexity, continuous improvement tools; numerical and financial analysis and risk analysis methodologies. Disciplined, high sense of urgency and responsibility,.

  • This role needs to travel within Great China and immediately in case to attend Government Audits.
