Job Summary

The Shift Leader – Finishing area is responsible for leading the crew on shift. He/she needs to understand Autonomous Maintenance methodology and be able to train, develop and implement the methodology to eliminate losses. This individual is also responsible for decision making regarding productivity and quality needs.  The Shift Leader is also responsible for the skill and knowledge development and training of his/her crew. They are the link between all the processes, maintenance, logistics.
You must be able to rotate shifts permanently. 
The position is based in Queretaro factory, Mexico, reporting to Finishing Process Manager.
Tetra Pak is not sponsoring work visas or relocation for this position. 

What you will do

As a Shift Leader – Finishing area you will: 

  • Operation: Be able to operate all operations in process area; Drive the machine, to produce quality product within specification in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Quality: Understand the quality standards intended for the position, to perform quality inspection using designated equipment. Investigate anomalies, lead single event analysis, maintain logs and reports, report any anomalies that impact the quality of the process, complying with the specifications.
  • WCM: Lead or participate in WCM teams and activities to eradicate losses in the process following the WCM methodology.
  • Safety: Drive the safety culture and program within the area, complying with the safety policy and all measures including safety standards like HIRA, LOTO and food safety standards.
  • Autonomous Maintenance (AM): Lead AM teams and activities in the area. Train, develop and implement AM methodology to eliminate losses on shift by improving machine reliability, quality, safety, efficiency and maintaining the gain by standardization.
  • Waste: Troubleshoot problems causing waste and improve the situation and further prevent waste generation by ensuring all procedures are followed. Zero loss mindset, being proactive to further minimize waste by continuous improvement. Responsible for accurate consumption and traceability of materials.
  • People Management and Training & Development: Manage team and employee development: ensure sufficient manning (manage vacation, leave, and overtime scheduling for operators – plan, approve and report), handle all performance management activities and appraisals of all operators in shift in process area. Provide training to new operators, drive development of all operators on shift.
  • Daily Management Activities: Lead shift handovers, support cell team on daily management system including reporting, loss identification, loss analysis, creating and updating standards.

We believe you have

  • Must be able to work different shifts as needed, including covering for peers.
  • Prior production/manufacturing experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree or engineer degree.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • 3-5 years of experience in role or similar.
  • Lead work teams (focus on work cells).
  • Ability to read, understand and comply with work instruction, training manuals, safety rules, standard operating procedures or process related to World Class Manufacturing (WCM) Total Production Manufacturing (TPM).
  • Desirable knowledge in Lean Manufacturing.
  • Desirable previous working in KAIZEN teams
  • Make proposals to reduce or eradicate losses.
  • Create, follow, and implement Quality standards (for example: ISO 9000).
  • Create, follow, and implement Standard Operating Procedures SOP
  • Management of operator tags through Autonomous Maintenance.
