Job Summary

 

We are looking for a professional Regional Customs Manager, who will lead the workforce management and development, be an expert in optimizing customs operations by the usage of Free Trade Agreements, special regimes and any other available benefits. Focused on process improvement, automation and standardization. Proficient knowledge on Mexico is required. USA and Canada legislations and global corporate trade flows are differentials highly appreciated. 
Additionally, the professional should be able to monitor regional risks and regulatory developments, as well as drive customs brokers performance management. Regional Customs Manager will be the escalation point and support on problem solving for Customs Operations for Imports, Exports and the above mentioned Special Regimes and Benefits. 
In this role you will be managing North America Region – Mexico, USA and Canada and possibly supporting other markets on spot basis. 
The position will be based in Polanco, Mexico City, Mexico.
You may be required to travel 25% of your time regionally / globally. 
Tetra Pak is not sponsoring work visas or relocation for this position.

 

What you will do

 

  • Drive regional customs team and manage people development. 
  • Guarantee accurate trade-flows operations while looking for potential optimization. 
  • Accurate application of special regimes, FTAs, IMMEX, CIVA, AEO, CT-PAT (USA and Mexico), PROSEC and other opportunities to improve the duty under management. 
  • Manage regulatory developments and all risks for customs operations – import and export. 
  • Risk Management. 
  • Resilience, ability to handle ambiguity & dynamic environments. 
  • Collaboration & conflict management (internally and externally with logistics providers/ customs brokers).
  • Build and keep communication with local and regional key stakeholders. 
  • Manage and support problem solving in the customs operations, supporting business needs within the compliance boundaries. 
  • Ensure compliance of Free Trade Agreements, IMMEX and all other benefits Tetra Pak are currently using and/or can apply for, as well as guarantee full compliance with local regulations.  
  • Lead the implementation of cross functional procedures with customs brokers, Logistics and other stakeholders to standardize and align data declared in customs declarations. 
  • Perform the origin qualification of all goods exported to all countries that have valid Trade Agreements with Mexico, US and Canada. 
  • Responsible for customs tariff classification and approval. 
  • Responsible to close open gaps related to the Internal and external Audits.

 

We believe you have

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Foreign Trade, International Business, Business Administration, Supply Chain or Accounting. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in customs regulations, special regimes and intercompany trade flows operations as well as other relevant regulations with the countries Tetra Pak has customs operations with in collaboration with other regional managers. 
  • Native Spanish, Fluent English.  
  • Experience managing and communicating with government and regulatory agencies. 
  • Customs audits.
