Automation Engineering Manager

We are looking for an experienced


Automation Manager within Projects & Production EU team in Business Stream Cheese. 


The role will be based in Olsztyn, Poland and will report to the Project and Production Manager



The main purpose of the role is to:

Deliver complex multiple Cheese projects on time and to budget through management of a medium-sized team of engineers and specialists with competences and knowledge of different disciplines (electrical and automation).

The role also includes managing of sub-contracting resources and ensure compliance with all relevant Tetra Pak quality standards. The role also includes a responsibility for manufacturing control cabinets in our facility in Poland.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Continuous build-up and development of competency for automation and electrical engineering, testing and commissioning
  • Secure competence and resource availability for customers and projects
  • Be accountable for the end results of project towards customers
  • Drive production of Functional and Software Design Specifications. PLC Software and SCADA configuration, Factory and Site based testing including production of all test documentation and on site commissioning.
  • Planning of resources to secure implementation of projects according to agreed plan
  • Develop and manage automation templates and interface specifications
  • Participation and technical contribution to customer, projects and sales meetings
  • Drive process deployment for automation and electrical engineering
  • Interface with account managers and customers to assess the customer requirements and thereby create cost effective quotations.
  • Participating in design reviews and safety risk assessments.
  • Manage automation activities on site for installation, commissioning and performance testing phases.  Review commissioning of  processing automation systems.
  • Conduct related training for team
  • Participate in management team, budget, target and capacity setting
  • Drive the implementation and monitoring of the relevant performance indicators
  • Drive the organisation through Continuous Improvement mindset and approach
  • Manage and develop direct reports



  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering or related technical field, and 5 years of experience preferably with processing area automation systems.  Previous experience in the food or dairy industry is an asset
  • Several year’s experience to develop competencies in area of control software, software engineering, user interface and programming skills, infrastructure), understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Experience in a supervisory role with direct reports
  • Good understanding about production solutions in the food industry is preferable but not necessary
  • Solid team coordination and project coordination experience
  • Contractual and commercial awareness
  • Proven leadership and motivation skills, effective coach
  • Able to communicate with internal stakeholders at all levels and capable of managing their expectations, Strong, positive oral & written communication skills
  • Ability to motivate a team of engineers under demanding timelines
  • Good stakeholder manager whit the ability to communicate effectively at all levels across boundaries
  • Strong analytical skills, a high level of business understanding and strategic thinking
  • Open- minded and proactive attitude, good problem solving skills
  • Fluent knowledge of English and Polish, written and spoken
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% to customer sites as  required.
