Job Summary

We are looking for a final year student in Engineering (preferably Materials or Mechanical) interested in a Master's thesis project related to the improvement of performance and reliability of metal components produced through Additive Manufacturing technologies, with focus on surface finishing and treatments. You will be enrolled in an internship program within our Development and Technology department reporting to the Manager of Preparation and Forming Technologies and will be part of a team of experienced colleagues in our office in Modena.

This is a 6-month paid internship and we are looking for a candidate who is an active university student and eligible to work for the entire duration of the internship.

What you will do

As our Surface Finishing Intern for Additive Manufacturing:

  • You will be part of a multidisciplinary R&D team focused on improving the performance and reliability of metal components produced through AM technologies.
  • You will support ongoing research activities related to post-processing treatments, such as mechanical, thermal, and chemical surface finishing, with the aim of improving surface quality, fatigue performance, and functional properties.
  • You will contribute to the characterization of surface roughness, microstructural evaluation, and the assessment of finishing methods such as abrasive flow machining, shot peening, chemical etching, and other innovative techniques.
  • You will also be involved in designing and executing experimental plans, analysing results, and drafting technical documentation for both internal and academic use.
  • This internship is intended to support your master’s thesis project and is tailored to students with a background in materials engineering and an interest in metal additive manufacturing.

We believe you have

  • Current enrolment in a Master’s degree program in Materials Engineering (or similar), ideally in your final year.
  • A bachelor’s degree already completed in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Basic knowledge of additive manufacturing and metallic materials.
  • Familiarity with surface characterization techniques (e.g., profilometry, microscopy, roughness measurement) is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical testing and fatigue behaviour is appreciated.
  • Good skills in Excel, Word, and technical report writing.
  • Curiosity, precision, and a proactive attitude toward experimental work.
  • Availability to work full-time or part-time depending on academic needs.
  • Good level of English

We Offer You

  • A variety of exciting challenges with ample opportunities for development and training in a truly global landscape
  • A culture that pioneers a spirit of innovation where our industry experts drive visible results
