Tetra Pak Iberia is looking to strengthen its Automation team with an Automation Engineer. This is a great opportunity to grow your career in Processing Solutions, focusing on project development and performance improvement in equipment and installations.
The role involves programming PLC, SCADA, DCS systems, and industrial networks in virtual environments, with strong integration and data exchange with databases. You’ll be responsible for specific technical aspects of automation projects, reporting to the Automation Project Leader or Manager.
The position is based in Lisbon, Portugal, with occasional travel to Spain, Italy, Greece, and Angola depending on project needs.
What you will do
- Develop automation projects and upgrades (PLC, SCADA and/or MES), support all the project phases and participate in commissioning.
- Coordinate electrical design with panel suppliers and perform quality control assessments.
- Work according to the project objectives, budget, and timeline.
- Provide remote automation support, service and troubleshooting for the installed base.
- Coordinate tasks with other automation engineers, consultants and suppliers.
- Compile and review technical documentation for inclusion in the project deliverables.
- Test and validate software to ensure the quality outcomes.
We believe you have
Language and Education
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Automation or Electronics Engineering.
- Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. Good command of English.
Travelling
- Willingness to travel to Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece and others foreign countries (up to 50% of time).
Professional Skills and Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in PLC, SCADAs or DCS programming and commissioning for processing plants.
- Programming skills in SIEMENS (TIA Portal, S7, and/or PCS7, Win CC HMI), AVEVA™ (InTouch HMI, System Platform).
- Database skills in MS-SQL Server.
- Experience with electrical documentation.
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure and virtualization systems.

- Leadership skills for managing projects or project components.
- Proactive and committed to solving system issues.
- Ability to manage high workloads effectively.
Miscellaneous
- Experience and understanding of processing equipment and food/dairy industry processes.
- MES knowledge is a plus.
- DCS and OPC system knowledge is a plus.
- Electrical engineering experience for control and power cabinet design according to EU normative.
- Knowledge of Rockwell PLC programming.
- Experience with ABB PLC systems (Sattline or AC800xA)
- Familiarity with Ignition HMI.
