Marketing Director

We are looking for an experienced Marketing Director to join the Tetra Pak team responsible for the Southern Africa market region. The role reports to the Managing Director for market company South Africa.


The roles main purpose includes the responsibility and accountability for driving Marketing activities within the market company. Member of market company management team. Leads Marketing Managers to effectively work with customers to further Tetra Pak business. Deploys marketing services program as suitable per customer. Ensures voice of market to Cluster and Global teams.


The role responsiblities include:


  1. Lead the development of the Market Business Plan based on analysis of market intelligence covering the entire value chain in identified priority categories.
  2. Define market growth initiatives aligned with the cluster growth strategy.
  3. Drive market leadership focusing on the identified market company initiatives and cascading up to Cluster Management
  4. Identify new product requirements based on value chain needs in key categories. Champion these requirements with the Regional/Central Product organisation.
  5. Define future intelligence requirements for market and liaise with cluster business intelligence supporting research projects as needed.  Analyze and use research data with customers. Apply market and business intelligence to market company opportunities
  6. Deploy and execute cluster strategy in the markets. Work closely with customers to secure strategic alignment and deliver best customer value
  7. Deliver marketing services for key customers drawing materials and methodologies from Regional/Central organisation
  8. Manage Market Promotional Investment
  9. Manage & Lead local marketing team resources


The ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:


  • Relevant experience of up to 10 years
  • Relevant University degree - Commercial/Marketing
  • Experience in B2B and B2C marketing
  • Must have market knowledge of the beverage/FMCG industry
  • Good analytical skills
  • Packaging Portfolio knowledge and experience
  • Deep understanding of the South African retail market
  • Proven experience in organisation and set up of marketing campaigns
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience of product portfolio namely packaging systems (packaging material and equipment) in the liquid food category
  • Must be a South African Citizen with valid ID - Employment Equity targets will apply
