Job Summary
We are creating a new organization with the aim to put a well-defined and standardized global Customs and Import operating model in place across all relevant dimensions, from compliance, customer service, operational efficiency to leveraging free-trade agreements and customs costs.
We are now looking for a professional Senior Customs Expert who will perform execution of continuous improvement for all processes associated with import /export and ensure end-to-end daily activities defined into Customs Roles and responsibilities matrix and compliance with country rules and regulations. You will work directly with regional and local teams with operational/tactical customs activities (import and export flow) and provide stakeholders with customs and trade solutions.
The location for this position is Hochheim, Germany and this is a permanent position.
What you will do
1. Operational Performance:
Drive excellence in import, export, and transit activities.
Optimize processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track performance.
2. Compliance and Interaction:
Serve as the primary point of contact/act as a representative for local customs authorities.
Ensure adherence to country-specific rules and regulations.
Collaborate with brokers and third parties for seamless customs interactions.
3. Customs permissions / special matters:
Manage compliance under the Authorized Economic Operator (AEOF) certification.
Manage and control Inward Processing Relief (IPR) and other suspense regimes (e.g., Temporary imports/exports).
4. Risk Mitigation:
Proactively identify and mitigate business continuity and economic risks related to customs transactions.
Ensure accurate tariff classification for imported and exported goods.
5. Continuous Improvement:
Implement process enhancements to streamline customs operations.
Stay updated on changes in customs laws and regulations.
We believe you have
- Experience:
5-8 years in the customs field, preferably in a multinational environment or customs brokerage company/similar - Knowledge:
European Union Customs Code (UCC) and Customs Procedures/regimes.
Experience in Customs Softwares or SAP is a plus
Domain in the office package, mainly Excel - Skills:
Strong stakeholders’ management skills
Strong collaboration and conflict management skills
An innovation mindset and a drive to find solutions and opportunities. - Languages:
Proficiency in German and English is essential. - Education & certifications:
University degree in Economics, Trade, or related fields.
Professional Customs Expert Qualification recognized by one of the following:
A customs authority in the European Union
An educational institution approved by customs authorities or a professional training organization in an EU Member State
A professional or trade association recognized by the customs authorities of an EU Member State or accredited in the Union, for the purposes of providing such qualification.
