Job Summary

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Senior Legal Counsel to join the Legal Affairs team at Tetra Pak, working in the central Legal Affairs Business Unit Team. This small, focused team manages legal support for Tetra Pak’s three business units, Packaging Solutions, Processing Solutions & Equipment and Services. The role is primarily focused on supporting Tetra Pak’s Automation and Digital (A&D) sales including contracting for key projects, training and other legal topics related to the deployment of a new A&D product portfolio. You will also be collaborating with Legal Affairs colleagues worldwide to build know how and share best practices for key A&D sales projects and other sales opportunities in various markets. 


The Tetra Pak Legal Affairs unit contributes to a profitable and sustainable business by anticipating and resolving legal issues, protecting innovation and our brands, and promoting good governance. It is headed by the Tetra Pak Group Executive Vice President and General Counsel, who leads a global team of more than 90 world-class lawyers, patent and trademark attorneys, corporate governance and risk management, and export control professionals. 


This position is based at our Tetra Pak office in Denton, Texas, and reports to a Senior Legal Counsel in the Legal Affairs Business Unit team based in Sweden. Some domestic and international travel may be required. Tetra Pak is not sponsoring work visas or relocation for this position. 

 

What you will do

 

In this dynamic role, you will work in an environment that involves regular customer interactions and close collaboration with our global sales force deploying the new A&D portfolio, as well as other stakeholders in the Automation & Solutions (A&S) team. You will also interact with Legal Affairs colleagues supporting markets across the globe and central teams.


Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Support the business and market lawyers with opportunities for key A&D sales projects worldwide.
  • Support with drafting, negotiating and providing legal advice with respect to agreements covering sales of the A&D portfolio including software, software engineering, hardware and maintenance as well as other commercial agreements.
  • Identify and analyze legal issues and risks, presenting clear recommendations to advance A&D sales and ensure compliance with Tetra Pak policies and procedures (including general legal compliance).
  • Monitor regulatory and market practice developments regarding sales of A&D products in North and South America.
  • Build capability and competence around contracting for the A&D product portfolio, both with business stakeholders and Legal Affairs colleagues globally.  
  • Collaborate with and support other Legal Affairs colleagues in developing and launching tools and templates for the A&D product portfolio. 
  • Have the opportunity to improve and influence contract templates and other tools related to Tetra Pak’s go-to-market approach for the A&D product portfolio.

 

We believe you have

 

  • 10+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably in the software sector, gained in both law firm and in-house environments. 
  • Juris Doctorate Degree or L.L.M from an accredited U.S. law school. 
  • License to practice law and admission to (and current good standing with) the bar of at least one state is required.
  • Strong commercial understanding and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills.
  • A solution-oriented mindset, with a focus on providing practical and actionable advice that balances risk and opportunity.
  • Antitrust knowledge is a plus.
