Occupational Health and Safety Officer US & Canada
We are looking for an Occupations Health and Safety (OHS) Officer to support the US and Canada Market Company and Project teams to ensure compliance with the group OHS policy and procedures and to drive continuous improvement towards the Tetra Pak goal of zero accidents and work-related illnesses. You will be in charge of delivering our Corporate OHS strategy and providing OHS leadership in all the areas of safety, health and environment.
The position is based in Denton, TX.
You will be travelling up to 25% of your time.
What you will do
As OHS Officer US & Canada, you will:
- Support operational leaders to ensure effective risk assessment and safe working practices in Projects and Services.
- Establish and maintain systems to support the site conformance with the Group OHS procedures and local legislation.
- Drive continuous improvement in OHS and work with others to identify and eliminate risks to OHS.
- Encourage a positive OHS culture at his/her site and at customer sites.
- Ensure an accurate record of accidents and incidents and monitor completion of follow-up actions. Ensure that adequate and timely investigation and analysis is completed.
- Monitor compliance with agreed site OHS policies and procedures both at Tetra Pak sites and customers sites.
- Conduct inspections of work sites as needed.
- Coordinate vendors and systems for required training and industrial hygiene testing and work with leaders to ensure compliance with completion.
- Contractor management policies, training and compliance.
- Workers Compensation investigation and reporting.
- Assist Global team with local Travel Security processes.
- Support Market with Wellbeing initiatives.
We believe you have
- At least 4 years of proven experience in an OHS role (manufacturing environment preferred).
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) / NEBOSH certificate is preferable.
- Experience in implementing regulatory standards in the manufacturing area is preferable.
- Experience in managing security aspects.
- Thorough knowledge of state and federal health, safety & environmental regulations.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Incident Investigation, Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving.
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PPT).
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience in both US and Canada preferred.
- Knowledge of World Class Manufacturing/Total Productive Maintenance a plus
