Manager EU Affairs


The Manager EU Affairs will support the implementation of Tetra Pak’s advocacy and engagement with the EU institutions and EU policy stakeholders.

She/he will 
•    Manage a portfolio of EU Green Deal policy issues relevant for Tetra Pak and its three business units: packaging solutions, food processing and services.
•    Contribute to developing and implementing the company’s policy advocacy and communications strategy 
•    Provide insights and analysis on regulatory developments relevant for our business, prepare briefings and policy updates for senior management and business
•    Manage relationships with the EU institutions, industry associations and NGOs, operate outreach and engagement programmes; organize meetings and participation in events and high-level fora 
•    Represent Tetra Pak in working groups of industry associations and contribute to enhancing Tetra Pak’s working relationships with expert groups or consultants
•    Support and closely collaborate with PA colleagues across Europe (focus on France Benelux) and in relevant functions (External Communications, Sustainability, Legal) on Public Affairs matters. 


What you will do:


Key responsibilities:

•    Proactively monitor regulatory developments, emerging trends, and other political or public issues with potential business impacts
•    Support the development and implementation of response strategies; manage advocacy tools, coordinate measures to ensure risks are managed and opportunities assessed
•    Facilitate the development of our external narrative around key policy challenges in collaboration with relevant internal and external stakeholders; develop positions and key messages
•    Contribute to and participate in advocacy campaigns and external positioning with government bodies and policy stakeholders; manage messaging on Tetra Pak’s media channels (social and print media) to support advocacy on key EU policies
•    Develop an active and industry-relevant network, in close collaboration with the EU/ECA PA team and the Director EU Affairs.
•    Coordinate relationships with key policy stakeholders; represent Tetra Pak in formal meetings of trade associations and EU stakeholder platforms 
•    Ensure information and alignment with key internal stakeholders on executing our advocacy strategy; prepare briefings and policy updates to relevant colleagues, senior management and expert committees
•    Closely coordinate with the PA team, ensure proper communication, alignment, and coordination on internal and external Communications
She/he will report to the Director EU Affairs and be part of the global Tetra Pak Corporate Affairs team.

•    In-depths understanding and knowledge of the EU policy and decision-making process, strong network among EU policy stakeholders 
•    Understand trends and developments in the food packaging and processing area, circular economy, climate and sustainability policy sphere, that can impact Tetra Pak’s business 
•    Ability to develop and deliver impactful messages, arguments and facts to regulators and decision-makers and to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders 
•    Track record on communication to policy audiences on conventional and social media
•    Ability to seize and materialize influencing opportunities; to build and manage relevant relationships with European policymakers and stakeholder groups and associations to ensure the effectiveness of engagement
•    Keep the team and the businesses informed of political and regulatory developments 
•    Proven track record of consistently delivering results against time-sensitive deadlines during conflicting demands; ability to analyse complex problems and take initiatives you will also be able to interact effectively at all levels with sensitivity
•    Has the highest ethical standards of conduct and professional demeanour, as well as understanding and embracing purpose and core values of our company


Education and Experience:

•    Master’s degree 4+ years of related experience in EU Public Affairs, ideally gained in a similar role in a multinational company, Public Affairs firm or the EU institutions preferably working topics related to sustainability, packaging or the food and beverage industry
•    Exceptional command of English and French including executive writing, other EU languages are a definitive asset
