Job Summary

We’re hiring a VAT Compliance Controller!

 

Join Tetra Pak’s international tax team and help ensure smooth, accurate VAT reporting across our global operations — with a focus on East-European countries. You’ll work on cross-border transactions, support audits, and contribute to process improvements through tax technology. 

 

This full-time role can be based in Budaörs (Hungary), Belgrade (Serbia), Prague (Czech Republic) or Bucharest (Romania), with occasional travel.

 

What you will do

  • Supporting VAT compliance for Tetra Pak entities, with a focus on East-European countries
  • Preparing and submitting VAT, Intrastat, and EC Sales reports accurately and on time
  • Helping improve VAT processes and tools, including external systems
  • Assisting with tax tech initiatives to boost efficiency and reduce costs
  • Handling VAT-related queries from internal teams and external consultants
  • Supporting responses to tax authority requests and external audits
  • Helping with ledgers, billing, and general admin tasks
  • Keeping VAT documentation and internal procedures up to date
  • Supporting local tax compliance (Hungary, Czech Republic, Serbia)
  • Coordinating with outsourcing partners and managing related fees
  • Assisting the Tax Manager with research, document reviews, and day-to-day tasks

We believe you have

  • Around 3–5 years of hands-on VAT compliance experience
  • A degree in accounting, finance, or business
  • Fluent English is a must — any additional European language is a big plus!
  • Great communication skills and confidence in working with stakeholders
  • A sharp eye for detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • A team player who thrives in a global, collaborative environment
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks
  • Solid experience with SAP and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Good understanding of local tax (Hungarian, Czech, Serbian or Romanian) regulations
