Automation Engineer

We are looking for an experienced automation engineer, to be based in our Macro Automation Auckland office, focusing primarily on the dairy and beverage industries.
As an automation engineer you will be part of our fast-moving team delivering market leading automation solutions to our customers.

What you will do
As an automation engineer, you will:
- Work both independently and as part of a team to develop solutions for our customers
- Contribute to technical development and technical support
- Validate / review technical solutions
- Lead technical discussions with your peers, customers, and suppliers 
- Coordinate and manage automation project delivery 
- Travel to support the delivery of our projects
- Assist with quotation, design, development, and final delivery of projects 
- Act as an ambassador for Macro Automation & Tetra Pak

Who you are
We believe you have:
- Proven ability to deliver on automation projects, ideally two or more years’ experience. Food and beverage industry exposure is preferred
- A good understanding of automation systems and processes
- Leadership skills and a willingness to support and grow junior team members
- A university degree in engineering specializing in automation/software/mechatronics or electrical
- Skills in multiple PLC platforms (such as Rockwell / Schneider / Siemens)
- Skills in multiple HMI platforms (such as Intouch / System Platform / FTView)
- Experience with simulation / Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) 
- Experience with commissioning automation solutions in a factory environment
- New Zealand or Australian residency with full working rights
Other skills that would be beneficial:
- Ability to read / write / modify functional descriptions
- Experience with SQL and an understanding of database concepts
- Familiarity with industrial network setup and design
- Food and beverage industry process knowledge
- Knowledge of older legacy PLC languages is advantageous
- Exposure to programming languages such as Go, C#, C++
