Job Summary

 

We are looking for a project manager who strongly contributes to the overall successful management of multidiscipline teams and assure each project phase is completed on time, within budget and to the customers’ satisfaction. The ideal candidate will focus on accomplishing the targets of the different projects in the market, developing the project team to improve team performance by building team cohesiveness, training, and motivating in order to facilitate cooperation, ensure project efficiency and boost morale.  All members of the project team as well as other areas within the company or individuals influence the project’s results or execution (project stakeholders), which are identified and managed as a continuous process during the entire project lifetime, in order to understand their degree of influence and to manage their expectations. The level and the nature of the interactions can vary according to the stakeholders and their level of influence, as defined in the project communication plan. Project Stakeholders include: The project sponsor, customers, users, sellers, business partners, functional managers, and business unit responsible.  He/she will be responsible for a part of our local kit development activity/project in technical aspects, decided by the team.

The position will be office based in Gotemba Japan but requires traveling to customer site maximum 20-30% yearly to do kit installation and support work. 

What you will do

 

  • Integrate the multiple related activities (and/or sub projects) to deliver the overall project scope and objectives. 
  • Define, communicate, and manage project scope, objectives and deliverables based on stakeholders’ requirement.
  • Define a deliverable oriented work breakdown task.
  • Develop, execute, control, and communicate the project plan.
  • Define, communicate, manage and control the project budget. 
  • Define, plan, and manage systematic quality activities to meet project value through employing necessary processes, methods and tools.
  • Create and lead the project organization based on project deliverables and define roles, responsibilities, and objectives.
  • Develop and implement a communication plan based on stakeholders needs and expectations.
  • Develop, implement a monitor the risk management plan.
  • Create and drive the project procurement plan to ensure the supplier selection and management fulfill project objectives.
  • Manage contractual arrangements with all necessary organizational entities and maintains the support and engagement of the stakeholder group involved.

We believe you have

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, and other related fields) is preferred. 
  • Fluent Japanese, Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Project Manager or relevant experience handling projects, dealing with different stakeholders, actively participation in projects, leading technical teams and executing with a high sense of integration within different areas in the organization.
  • Previous project management experience preferred.  You are capable to manage complex stakeholders both internal and external at all levels making use of unformal authority and lead teams without authority.
  • Capacity to deal with the uncertainty in complex projects.  
  • You are capable and used to apply professional project management competences according to PMI standards.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)® Certification is preferred. 
  • Strong computer skills required (proficiency with excel and spreadsheets required).
  • Self-motivated, results oriented, high sense of discipline, attention to details, ability to motivate a team, high level of negotiation skills, creative and adaptable.
